F.A.Q Frequently Asked Questions
What does open-entry/open-exit mean?
Open-entry/open-exit is a method of instructional delivery that allows students to begin study at any time, progress through course material at their own pace, and demonstrate competency when knowledge and skills have been mastered.
What does competency-based mean?
Competency-based focuses on what the learner can “do” as a result of the learning experience, in addition to what the learner “knows”. Competencies are major skills or abilities complemented by the knowledge necessary to perform tasks effectively. They describe performance expectations in observable, measurable terms, telling learners what they will be able to do, as well as what they will know, as the result of a given learning experience.
How do I find out if there is a UCAT College Campus located close to my home or work?
The Utah Applied Technology College (UCAT) Campuses are strategically located throughout the state of Utah. The easiest way to find the closest UCAT college location would be to visit our website at www.ucat.edu. There are different ways to discover the desired information from this website. First, the front page displays each area Applied Technology College Campus on a map of Utah, and with a click on a specific area, will then link the viewer to the Campus website for more information. Or, Campus contact information can be accessed by clicking on the “Directory” button, which lists both the general and admissions contact information for each UCAT Campus.
How long will it take me to complete my training?
The length of training is completely dependent on the program chosen and the student’s own flexibility and pace based on the open-entry/open-exit format.
What is the cost?
Utah high school students attending a UCAT College Campus enroll tuition-free, and tuition for adults is minimal. Adult students are currently charged a base tuition of $1.35 per clock hour for a full-time student; however, some programs and training cost more due to industry standards or equipment/material needs.
What if I have financial problems and cannot pay for school?
Unfortunately, the school is to able to offer a deferred payment option. There are various ways to get money fast. For example, you can take out a personal loan or a payday loan from a microfinance institution. Payday loans are extremely popular in this case because they are easy to get even if you are a student who are unofficially employed. One of the well-known US lenders is Bright Loans. However, before applying for a cash advance, be sure to read a Bright loans review to find out its features, types of products, pros and cons, and customer testimonials. The online portal contains other lenders’ reviews, which makes it easy to select the right company for your financial needs.
